A guestroom at Concepció by Nobis in Palma de Mallorca

Nobis unveils first foray outside Scandinavia

With seven properties already in its portfolio, Nobis Hospitality Group will further expand its collection this Summer with the opening of Concepció by Nobis in Palma de Mallorca. Intimate, relaxed and channelling a distinctly Mediterranean glamour, the hotel will be a southern beacon for the Swedish brand, which will apply its hallmark style to a historic building on the edge of the city’s Old Town. Designed in collaboration with longstanding architecture partner Wingårdhs, alongside Mallorcan creatives Jordi Herrero and Eduardo Garcia Acuna, the 31-room property is set to bring together Scandinavian cool and sophisticated Spanish charm.

Scheduled to open in June 2021, Concepció by Nobis is located in an emerging corner of Palma, where the Old Town meets the Santa Catalina district just a stone’s throw away from the sea. The hotel will act as a social hub for guests and locals alike, with amenities on offer including a pool, in-house restaurant, terraces and a lounge. Its 31 guestrooms and suites, which range from standard singles to a Terrazza Room featuring a covered patio area, will each be carved out of a frame dating back to 1576, marrying past and present.

Taking cues from both the Mediterranean Sea and the green Tramuntana mountains for the colour scheme, the designers have applied an abundance of natural materials to the hotel’s spaces while at once being mindful of the history of the former soap factory. Guestrooms will be accented with wood, leather and wool alongside Carl Hansen’s Cuba chairs, while public areas are defined by the presence of custom-made tiling by Mallorcan brand Huguet against carefully restored pillars and beamed ceilings. Gardens, a gym complete with sauna, a chambré separée and meeting room, and a lively lobby will round out the communal spaces.
