One&Only Resorts has announced a June 2020 opening date for One&Only Mandarina – a 104-key all-villa project set along Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the property comprises treehouse and cliff-top villa accommodation designed by American practices Studio Rick Joy and Studio Caban, with the wider site featuring a beach club, conference facilities, spa and multiple dining venues.

Forming part of the multi-billion-dollar Mandarina development, the resort will be joined within the 640-acre site by 54 private homes and the fifth Rosewood property in Mexico. The latter is scheduled to the open in 2023.

Taking aesthetic cues from the landscape, One&Only Mandarina’s interiors will balance contemporary styling with sustainability measures. Having consulted a number of botany experts during the development process to minimise impact on the natural landscape, a low-density planning approach will see the signature spa spread across a collection of six isolated and enclosed treatment rooms, whilst a specialised outdoor gym will be carved into the site.

The F&B offer, meanwhile, will incorporate the Jetty Beach Club – specialising in seafood from an oceanfront location on the resort’s private beach. Elsewhere, poolside lounge Alma will sit at the heart of the resort; main bar Treetop is set to overlook the sea; and Carao – an adults only destination with an infinity-edged swimming pool and a kitchen – will be overseen by a soon-to-be-announced chef.

“Mandarina allows us to bring One&Only’s signature experiences to this unrivalled destination in Mexico,” says Philippe Zuber, Chief Operating Officer, Kerzner International. “This brand-defining resort will be the latest addition to One&Only’s global portfolio and will showcase our commitment to the destination and creating truly memorable moments.”
