Patina Osaka reveals design scheme inspired by changing seasons

Patina Osaka is set to open in May 2025, marking Patina Hotels & Resorts’ debut in Japan.

The property’s design – the creative vision of Jun Mitsui & Associates and Strickland – is inspired by the Japanese concept of kisetsukan, meaning seasonal awareness.

Set within a 20-storey sanctuary, the hotel comprises 221 rooms and suites, featuring natural wood elements and expansive windows that frame views of Osaka Castle Park or Naniwa-no-miya Park, allowing guests to witness the changing seasons from their rooms.

The property features a number of public spaces, including The Listening Room by OJAS. Created in collaboration with Brooklyn-based Devon Turnbull, the space features curated vinyl collections and cultural texts that have shaped Turnbull’s 20-year career. Sunrise sessions and evening soundscapes complement the natural rhythm of the day, while regular events welcome vinyl collectors and musicians to share their selections.

The hotel’s culinary offerings have also been envisioned to flow in harmony with nature’s rhythms. At Iñaki, a Basque grill takes centre-stage, while signature restaurant P72 presents conscious cuisine that respects Japan’s 72 micro-seasons. Nijiri Tea Lounge invites quiet moments of contemplation with carefully selected regional teas, complemented by the refined ambience of Sonata Lounge & Bar. Barin meanwhile offers an intimate teppanyaki experience where each dish tells a story of tradition and craft.

Patina Wellness unfolds across an entire floor, where 1,400m² of thoughtfully designed space invites restoration and renewal – including at a spa, pool and gym.
