Porto Elounda, on Crete’s north-east coast, has reopened following a phased renovation, introducing updated interiors, new dining concepts and an enhanced wellness offering.

Part of Elounda Collection, the resort now presents a more contemporary aesthetic across its key guest areas, alongside continued investment in its accommodation.

At the heart of the transformation is a redesigned lobby, introducing an open layout with a neutral palette of marble flooring, pale timber accents and soft, contemporary furnishings, alongside large-scale windows that frame uninterrupted sea views and allow natural light to flow through the space.

Sculptural, tiered pendant lighting adds a focal point above the central seating areas, while the 18th-century ceiling, originally from Northern Greece, has been carefully preserved to maintain a link to the property’s heritage.

A central addition to the renovation is Thea, the resort’s redesigned bar, positioned as a social hub overlooking the sea, with a focus on evening cocktails and a more refined night-time atmosphere. In addition, a large-scale artwork portraying the owners’ six grandchildren underwater has been commissioned from Greek artist Maria Filopoulou.

Alongside this, Porto Elounda has introduced Cosmos, a new international buffet-style restaurant by Italian interior designer Bartali. The bright, open dining space, with extended terrace seating, serves a daily changing menu of globally inspired dishes, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients and live cooking stations.

Following the introduction of renovated suites in 2025, Porto Elounda has continued to enhance its accommodation with the addition of 14 new Premium Suites designed by Wimberly Interiors.

Featuring refined interiors, improved lighting schemes, modernised bathrooms and upgraded in-room technology, the latest additions bring the total number of new suites at the resort to 114.

The reopening also introduces a new wellness centre, designed to support a more holistic approach to wellbeing. The space includes Technogym equipment, Pilates reformers, a dedicated yoga studio and an outdoor training area. It integrates movement and relaxation, adding to the resort’s existing Six Senses Spa offering and providing facilities suitable for both structured training and informal use.

“This renovation marks an important step in the continued evolution of Porto Elounda,” says Business Development Director Ilias S. Kokotos. “Our focus has been on refining the guest experience through thoughtful design, improved flow across the resort and the introduction of new spaces for dining and wellbeing. The result is a more contemporary, cohesive environment that remains closely connected to its Cretan setting.”
