Rosewood set for Antigua

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been appointed by Vancouver-based property development company, Replay Destinations, to manage Rosewood Half Moon Bay Antigua, an all-suite property set to open in 2021 in the Caribbean’s West Indies.

Situated on 132 coastal acres, the former Half Moon Bay Hotel will feature 47 pavilion-style suites – including a three-bedroom presidential suite – as well as branded oceanfront villas, and 13 estate homes.  The pièce de résistance, previously owned by the Mellon Family, is perched on a bluff overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Each accommodation comprises oceanic vistas, as well as private infinity plunge pools, hammocks, open-air baths and showers, and live orchid walls in each bathroom.  With a design aesthetic that reflects the locale, the development borrows from historic Caribbean and architectural pioneers to couple classic elements with modern amenities and services.

Dining venues at Rosewood Half Moon Bay include a West Indies inspired clifftop lounge, offering artisanal Caribbean cocktails and small plates as well as live reggae and ska music, a poolside grill and beach bar, and an on-site organic farm providing fresh ingredients for seasonal fare year-round.

Elsewhere, additional facilities include two pools, a fitness centre, and tennis courts. Rosewood’s Sense spa will offer six signature treatment rooms and locally inspired treatments, while the adjacent 27-acre national park bids a selection of excursions from walking and cycling trails to beach activities and interactive guided experiences.

“With its secluded location and breath-taking beach, Half Moon Bay is one of the world’s most stunning hidden gems, and a natural destination for Rosewood’s affluent explorers,” comments Sonia Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group.  “We look forward to integrating Rosewood’s Sense of Place philosophy into Antigua’s incredible natural environment to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.”

Michael Coyle, Chief Executive Officer of Replay Destinations, adds: “We are honoured to be the stewards responsible for reimagining this legendary property that is so loved by the people of Antigua and for almost 50 years attracted travellers from around the world.

“By partnering with Rosewood Hotels, who not only have a storied history in Antigua, they also bring to Half Moon Bay a philosophy and approach for their guests that focuses on the distinct culture, history and geography of each locale. Together, we believe that what we will create the finest resort in the Caribbean and one of the finest in the world at Half Moon Bay Antigua.”

Rosewood Half Moon Bay will join a network of Rosewood properties in the region, including Rosewood Baha Mar, slated to open in 2018, Rosewood Bermuda – which will be unveiled in May 2018 following a complete renovation, and Rosewood Little Dix Bay, scheduled to re-open at a later date.
