Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has unveiled a full schedule of new openings around the world for 2021. From a neoclassical villa to a 15th century farmhouse and the collection’s first water-based member, here are SLH’s most anticipated openings of the year:
EMEA
Can Ferrereta
Located in the rural town of Santanyí in southeast Mallorca, luxury boutique hotel Can Ferrereta is set to open this April. The team behind Sant Francesc Hotel Singular has restored an historic 17th century building, comprising 32 individually designed rooms and suites, Mediterranean restaurant Ocre, all-day poolside restaurant and bar La Fresca, a spa with hammam, indoor pool and gym, and a library curated by Assouline. The interior scheme is reminiscent of a grand summer house, with space, natural light and textures blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living.
Castello di Reschio
Castello di Reschio is located within a 3,700-acre pastoral estate in the Umbrian hills on Italy’s Umbria-Tuscany border. The hotel houses 36 rooms and suites, a restaurant, spa, bar, library, pool and an organic farm including 5,000 olive trees. Offering locally-inspired dishes, the Alle Scuderie restaurant prides itself on using homemade produce – including honey, olive oil, pasta, and wine.
Torre del Marques
Torre Del Marques is a 15th-century farmhouse turned boutique hideaway with solar panels and sustainable architecture maximising its energy efficiency. The light-filled restaurant strives to embrace an organic ‘zero-kilometre’ approach to dining, serving only food that is produced in the immediate local area including olive oil, black truffle and honey.
Amani Boutique Hotel Zanzibar
Set on Paje Beach, Amani Boutique Hotel is a 14-key intimate retreat showcasing the unspoiled beauty of Zanzibar. The interiors feature hand-carved mirrors and traditional textiles framing the view of the horizon. Amani Boutique’s selection of guest rooms are furnished with premium woods and materials mixed with a relaxing colour palette, while private balconies offer views of the gardens or sea.
Grand Hotel Victoria Concept & Spa
Having started life as a 19th century neoclassical villa, Grand Hotel Victoria Concept & Spa reopens as a reimagined retreat with ornate chandeliers and classical columns sitting alongside contemporary furniture and surrounded by gardens, lake views and mountains. Lago Restaurant, overseen by Chef Martin Vitaloni, offers wraparound views from its lakeside veranda.
Villa Soligo
Situated on 15,000m2 of centuries-old grounds at the foot of Prosecco Hills, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Villa Soligo is the former summer hunting lodge for the Counts of Brandolini. After undergoing restoration, the Palladian-style 18th century mansion is now a boutique hotel offering refined luxury, relaxation and state-of-the-art wellness. Romanesque columns frame the villa’s entrance with the neoclassical grandeur continuing upstairs to its rooms and suites – each one individually designed and sumptuously furnished to reflect the Treviso period style and history of the mansion.
La Torre del Canonigo
Located on Ibiza Town’s Dalt Vila Hill, La Torre del Canonigo comprises three 16th century buildings connected by a terrace with a solarium. Featuring terracotta floors and traditional Balearic décor, guest rooms blend a minimalist White Isle palette and exposed stone walls with velvet fabrics and monochrome details. The swimming pool offers views across the harbour and Mediterranean below, in addition to the rooftop terrace. The hotel restaurant – Kyüppido – serves a fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean fare with a twist.

Kontiki Expeditions
Marking SLH’s first water-based member, Kontiki Wayra is a private yacht exploring destinations along the coast of Ecuador, travelling between Manta and Guayaquil and providing authentic immersion into the local cultures, traditions and cuisine of each stop. The nine luxury staterooms are sustainably designed with king-size beds, mood lighting, warm wood tones and walk-in showers. The vessel also features communal areas including an on-deck hot-tub surrounded by loungers to soak up the sunshine, as well as a bar, dining room, gym and spa.
Living Berna by Stara, Mexico City
Living Berna by Stara is located in Mexico City’s up-and-coming Colonia Juárez neighbourhood, which is home to chefs, artists and designers that have brought new energy into the district. The boutique hotel will feature fully automated luxury suites equipped with state-of-the-art technology as well as a library, theatre, gym, sky bar and a rooftop garden restaurant.
Asia Pacific
Koh Russey Villas & Resort
While Koh Russey isn't a new hotel opening, it is a new addition to the SLH collection. Inspired by the tradition geometry of the Cambodian Krama fabric, symbol of the Khmer people with its presence into their daily lives, the resort boasts 50 pavilions and 13 pool villas, in addition to multiple F&B venues, a spa and beachfront infinity pool.
