Studio Benaim has led the restoration of Hotel La Posta, a luxury wellness retreat in Val d’Orcia.
Originally built in the 1950s and expanded over time through successive additions, including the recent addition of eight new suites, the hotel today develops as a layered complex immersed in the landscape, surrounded by gardens and thermal pools in dialogue with the natural context.
The hotel unfolds through an essential and restrained language, composed of tactile materials, soft tones and carefully calibrated lighting that shapes intimate, enveloping atmospheres. This is paired with a progressive subtraction of superfluous elements, allowing a quieter, more perceptual spatial quality to emerge.

Guestrooms are central to the project and embody its core philosophy of a ‘family of rooms’ that, while individually distinct, belong to a coherent system. The intervention transforms existing spaces by rethinking layouts and proportions, improving usability and fostering a more natural relationship between space and hospitality.
At its core is the idea of a ‘home-like effect’ interpreted through design, where each room develops its own identity through varying combinations of colours, fabrics, patterns, furnishings and objects.

The result is an interior geography where each room becomes a singular interpretation of the same language, crafted through bespoke choices and various materials, finishes and details.
A rich and vibrant colour palette underpins the interiors, articulated in deep tones that interact with natural light and the surrounding Val d’Orcia landscape. Materials meanwhile – including stone, wood and textured fabrics – contribute to a coherent sensory experience.

Common areas, from the wellness centre to dining spaces, have also been progressively reinterpreted, contributing to define a fluid and immersive spatial system, in constant dialogue with the external landscape.
Matter and craftsmanship play a central role, defining the project’s identity and reflecting Studio Benaim’s longstanding approach. Custom carpentry, bespoke furnishings, tailored lighting and finishes interact to create a coherent system of details. In the bathrooms, for instance, travertine connects local tradition with contemporary comfort.

Studio Benaim’s work is part of a long-term vision developed in collaboration with Casa Costa 1956 – a collection of four hotels across Tuscany and the Dolomites.
“We worked on space as a device for slowing down, rather than simply as a container for hospitality,” says says architect André Benaim. “At Hotel La Posta, every intervention stems from a dialogue with what already exists, within a continuous process that builds identity over time.”
