Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet, the interior design duo behind Studio MHNA, have unveiled their interiors for the Sofitel Imperial Palace Marrakech.

A modern interpretation of a traditional Moroccan palace, the majestic hotel is spread over 1053m2 with interiors incorporating an emerald green and sapphire blue colour scheme as an homage to the feathers of a peacock, the sacred animal of Morocco.

The palace draws its inspiration from the legends, the lights and the guests of the city of Marrakech. In order to respond to the refinement of Moroccan culture, Studio MHNA wanted to bring a very couture attention to the decoration, in homage to a certain French couturier who fell in love with the red city.

Studio MHNA incorporate many different motifs and materials into the design of the hotel to translate the richness of Moroccan decorative arts and crafts, as well as cleverly playing with light and shadows to create an enchanting atmosphere, particularly in the restaurant with its gold and silver tones.

Upon entry, the visitor is captivated by the discovery of two majlis – meaning the place where one sits – intimately enclosed by metal screens whose pattern is reminiscent of lace.

The black canvas seats and cushions are enriched with cord embroidery. The tables and lighting fixtures are also creations of Studio MHNA, which has combined marble, nickel silver and mirror to create a modern and contemporary style.
