International design atelier Studio Sixty7, founded by designers Jose Rivero and Lee McNichol, has completed a transformation of several Sun Siyam Maldivian resorts.
With an approach that blends organic shapes, neutral palettes and bold design features – including oversized lighting and sand-covered floors – the duo has leveraged two decades of collective experience to redesign the spaces, spanning private beach and water villas to social areas and bars.

The beach villas, previously dated and overly decorative, have been reimagined as calm, contemporary getaways. Stripped back interiors reveal a refined, grounded sense of luxury, featuring a palette of soft neutrals, tactile surfaces and sculptural forms that feels both effortless and elevated and aims to prove that less can deliver more.
Outdoor areas take inspiration from spa sanctuaries, complete with double basins, open-air showers and a connection to the landscape, designed to restore a sense of stillness and ease.

Meanwhile, inspired by the rhythm of island life, Studio Sixty7 has reimagined a collection of water villas with barefoot luxury in mind. The interiors embrace simplicity and calm, where texture and neutral tones echo the natural surroundings.
Plastered walls, organic materials and sculptural, softly curved forms create a language of ease, balance and quiet sophistication. The result is a refined yet grounded retreat that celebrates simplicity.

The studio have also redesigned a main bar and deck, featuring a soothing neutral palette, organic curves and flowing forms that create a sense of relaxed comfort. Oversized statement lighting, bold stripes and a sand-covered floor add playful touches of drama.
Looking ahead, the Studio Sixty7 has been entrusted as the principal designers for an array of exclusive projects to debut in 2025. Among these are five opulent resorts in the Maldives, as well as a collection of residential and commercial developments in London, Mauritius and Australia.
