Roam Interior Design Studio has completed renovations to The Inn on Biltmore Estate’s 210 guestrooms.
Situated close to Biltmore House, George Vanderbilt’s grand 250-room Gilded Age mansion famed for being America’s last castle and largest private home, The Inn on Biltmore Estate originally opened in 2001, and is backdropped by panoramic views of the estate’s vast 8,000 acres and distant mountains.
To preserve the Biltmore Estate’s legacy, Roam approached the project with an aim to weave its rich heritage into a forward-looking design concept, ultimately offering a luxury hospitality experience inspired by the legacy of its original visionaries.
Inspired by multi-faceted layers of history, the renovated guestrooms are a fresh take on classical European style, incorporating distinctive details drawn from the design, intention and collection of Biltmore House paired with luxurious amenities for today’s guests.
The guestroom floors unfold in a succession of measured impressions, from refined panelling to tapestry-style wallcoverings that soften the architecture.
Roam also incorporated thoughtful details taken from the design of Biltmore House. These include bold, nature-inspired wall coverings, area rugs and fabrics by William Morris, embossed leathers, quatrefoil designs, carved wood detailing and elegant brass fittings.
Several artworks have also been recreated from George Vanderbilt’s own collection such as architectural drawings of Biltmore House, animal engravings and botanical paintings, culminating in a scheme grounded in the history and legacy of its setting.
