Long recognised as an important bridge between east and west China, Chengdu is one of the People’s Republic’s key economic hubs.
So it’s no surprise that hotel developers are flocking to the city – 60 properties with 13,596 keys are currently in the works in Chengdu, according to pipeline data collected by Tophotelprojects. Of the 60 new arrivals, 29 will be in the four-star segment, while the other 31 will be in the five-star category.
According to the data service, no fewer than 26 openings are scheduled across the city during the course of 2021 alone, bringing 6,220 additional rooms to the city. Another 17 properties are due for completion in 2022, followed by a further five in 2023, and 12 in 2024 and beyond.

Tonino Lamborghini Chengdu
Scheduled to open later this year – pandemic permitting – Tonino Lamborghini Hotel Chengdu will become the group's flagship in the Asia-Pacific region. Embodying the heritage and fusion of oriental culture with pure modern Italian style, the 200-key property will feature deluxe rooms, star-rated restaurants, a gym, and infinity pool as well as bars for business and leisure functions, offering guests the highest level of luxury experience.

LUX* Luxe Lakes
Forming part of an urban eco-city set on a man-made lake in Chengdu, the LUX* Luxe Lakes resort will feature a tiered edifice with floor-to-ceiling glass window panes allowing natural light to stream in. Expected to open in 2025, the hotel interiors will boast brightly patterned ceilings which will create striking bursts of colour, contrasting the terracotta and verdant spring colours of the surrounding nature.

Rosewood Chengdu
Expanding Rosewood’s footprint in Greater China, the ultra-luxury hotel will occupy the top floors of a new 300m mixed-use tower in an integrated complex in Chengdu’s central business district. In addition to guest room and suites, the 180-key property will feature four restaurants and bars as well as the exclusive Manor Club executive lounge. Recreation options will include a spa, fitness centre and swimming pool. Meanwhile, The Pavilion – Rosewood’s signature residential-style meeting and function area will suit both corporate and social events.

Hotel Nikko Chengdu Yixin Lake
Situated in the business zone of the Tianfu Yixin Lake development area – an urban development project divided into four zones with residential, educational, medical, commercial, sports and office facilities surrounded by greenery and lakes – Hotel Nikko Chengdu will offer a total of 303 guest rooms with a standard area of approximately 45 sqm, including suite rooms. Anantara Jinsha Chengdu
Establishing one component of the Jinsha City Development, Anantara Jinsha Chengdu is the brand’s first property in the Qingyang District of Chengdu. Slated to open in 2022, the 150-key hotel will host various food and beverage outlets from an all-day dining restaurant, to a specialty restaurant, as well as a lobby lounge and bar. Leisure facilities include a spa, a gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, alongside banqueting and meeting spaces.
