Saudi Arabia’s hotel construction pipeline is on an upward trajectory at present, with the Vision 2030 programme aiming to build the country’s travel and tourism industries at pace.

As such, no fewer than 160 hotels with 73,325 rooms are set to open in the near future, according to pipeline data collected by Tophotelprojects. The Kingdom’s capital Riyadh is the fastest-growing city in terms of new hotels, with 44 projects and 10,602 rooms in planning or under construction, while Jeddah follows with 40 openings and 10,541 rooms, and Makkah completes the top three with 30 new hotels and 33,526 rooms.

According to the data service, four of the total pipeline projects in the port city of Jeddah will open this year, 12 will open in 2021, three in 2022, as well as a further 21 in 2023 and beyond.

Accor’s Novotel brand leads the list of the fastest-growing brands in Jeddah by virtue of its three upcoming openings, spanning 750 rooms, while both Grand Hyatt and Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts are planning two new hotels each in the city, with 1,156 rooms and 475 keys respectively.
