Trio of K Hotels refurbished

GM Architects has completed the re-design of a trio of Myconian K-Hotels after six months of extensive renovations and interior refurbishments.

The three luxury establishments belong to the Myconian Collection, a family-owned group of leading resorts located on the Greek island of Mykonos. The three hotels consist of the five-star Kyma, Naia and Korali properties, all situated on the edge of Mykonos town and overlooking the Alefkandra windmills. GM Architects’ renovations aim to provide each project with its own individual character through working closely with the owners.

The process included a major re-design of all the interiors as well as a restructuring of the guestrooms, extending each by three meters. Communal areas including the outdoor pool of the Korali hotel have been renovated in order to cater for the construction of the Naia hotel.

Lead Architect Galal Mahmoud drew inspiration from the Mycenaean and Cycladic cultures, combining old and new to create a sense of elegance and escapism, and spaces that connect with the natural surroundings.

The Naia offers rustic stone walls, four-poster beds, panoramic verandas and private pools that blend seamlessly with the horizon. Here generous proportions and intricate details come together to create an atmosphere of comfort and tranquillity.

Meanwhile, the Kyma is an all white two-storey hotel with scenic balconies providing views over the arid landscape, designed to channel the spirit of Mykonos through every element of the hotel. Offering open spaces and clean lines, Mahmoud’s design for the Kyma features shades of royal blue that contrast with the purity of the dominant white.

Elsewhere, a more contemporary aesthetic has been adopted for the Korali, where urban-inspired furniture and colourful fabrics fuse to create a more vibrant art de vivre approach, which incorporates bespoke items produced by local manufacturers Artemide.

Mahmoud comments: “I design my architectural spaces, both interiors and exteriors, to be experienced as pathways to well-being, at one with their surrounding environment and the natural world.”
