White Line Hotels introduces Breac.House

White Line Hotels has added Breac.House to its portfolio, a three-bedroom retreat located northwards from Dunfanaghy on Ireland’s Horn Head Peninsula.

Designed by local firm MacGabhann Architects, the property blends into its surroundings and connects with County Donegal’s mountainous landscape using large windows and terraces, while a quiet library and lounge with fireplace create an ambient setting for visitors to escape the elements.

Guestrooms, meanwhile, are named to reflect the sensory experiences taken in at Horn Head. The first, Dulse, refers to the seaweed on the beach, in the hot baths and in the scones served with smoked salmon. The second takes its name from the gorse flowers that flourish come springtime, while the third room is named Turf after the inescapable smell of turf fires in Donegal.

As with the remainder of the lodge, each guestroom features locally crafted furniture and native materials, including Fanad granite and Ardara Quartzite from a South Donegal quarry. The spaces also boast private outdoor terraces, affording panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Breakfast at Breac.House is delivered through a hatch directly to guestrooms and makes use of clay pottery by Muck ‘n’ Muffins. The menu consists of homemade bread, pastries, butter, yoghurt and locally sourced organic salmon and fruit, with slight tweaks made each season. For lunch, the property offers a homemade picnic package, while come evening cocktails are available in the lounge or private spaces.
