Wyndham announces growth across EMEA

Having strengthened its presence across Europe, Middle East, Eurasia and Africa (EMEA) in 2020, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to continue its expansion into 2021 with a series of new openings.

In a year of historic challenges for the hospitality industry worldwide, Wyndham achieved 38 hotel signings in the region as well as launching multi-faceted initiatives to support and empower its partners from continent to continent, helping rebuild demand in response to changes and on-going travel restrictions.

Some of its key openings last year included the European expansion of Ramada by Wyndham in Madrid, Valencia, Leeds and Budapest, and continued momentum in India and Pakistan. Other highlights included the growth of La Quinta by Wyndham in Turkey, and the debut of the Super 8 by Wyndham brand in the UAE.

In late 2020, Wyndham also arrived in Nepal under the Ramada Encore by Wyndham brand, and expanded in India with the addition of Wyndham Ahmedabad Shela. Solid growth continued in early 2021, with the brand announcing the debut of the La Quinta brand in Dubai, the opening of Ramada by Wyndham Izmir Aliaga in Turkey, and the strengthening of its Dolce brand with a new flagship property in Copenhagen, Denmark.

“We are extremely proud of these achievements, initiatives and the resilience shown by our hotel partners in the region. In the toughest period our industry has ever experienced, it is more important than ever to put our partners, guests and teams at the heart of everything we do,” says President EMEA, Dimitris Manikis. “Our ability to grow is a testament to the strength of the value proposition of the Wyndham brands for hotel partners as they prepare to rebuild demand, and we are looking forward to our long-term success together.”

Wyndham’s recent expansion in EMEA is set to resume over the next 12 months, with a development pipeline of more than 16,000 rooms including over 20 new hotels – all of which will arrive later this year. Upcoming openings include a first from Wyndham’s namesake brand in Cyprus, seven properties in Turkey including the debut of Days Inn by Wyndham with two outposts in Istanbul, and the inaugural launch of Days Inn by Wyndham in the UAE in the second half of 2021, as well as a new Wyndham Grand hotel in Doha, Qatar.

Further growth in Europe includes the unveiling of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotels in central Brussels, together with Trademark openings in Budapest and Dusseldorf later in the year. The Ramada by Wyndham brand will also be bolstered in Romania, with two additional properties in Targu Jiu and Slatina.

Additional development in India will see the openings of Ramada by Wyndham Gangtok Deorali Hotel in April and Ramada Varanasi Katesar later in 2021, while Wyndham Garden Burabay (Kazakhstan), Ramada Encore by Wyndham Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and A Ramada by Wyndham in Tbilisi, Georgia are also in the pipeline.
