Zetter to debut in Manchester

The Zetter Group has confirmed the acquisition of Manchester’s London Road Fire Station for its first hotel outside of London.

Located in the heart of the city with a prime location adjacent to Piccadilly Station, the Grade II listed building, originally designed in the Edwardian Baroque style, will become a mixed-use destination anchored by The Zetter’s much awaited next venture.

The brainchild of restaurateurs Michael Benyan and Mark Sainsbury, The Zetter Group is famed for its pioneering eco-credentials, quirky details and unique guest experience, as seen at The Zetter Townhouse’s Clerkenwell and Marylebone. The new Manchester hotel will be the group’s first operation outside the capital and the fourth hotel in the collection. The group will submit a planning application in Autumn 2016.

Michael Benyan, The Zetter Group’s Director, comments: “We are delighted to have finally found the perfect opportunity to open a Zetter property in Manchester. London Road is an iconic building and a real gift for us as hoteliers. We want to preserve the existing beauty and magic of the building and use it to help create a unique experience for our guests. Allied London should also be applauded for their vision and ambition for the regeneration of the area – it’s an exciting project to be a part of.”

The Zetter Group will team up with Russell Sage Studio who previously designed the Zetter Townhouses, to bring their vision for this hotel to life. The Studio has also worked on the interiors of The Goring Hotel’s Royal Suite, a number of Jason Atherton’s and Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants, as well as Grain Store, also for The Zetter Group.

Allied London’s plans for the site also include ‘One Space’ – a collaborative destination with a world class cocktail bar, spa and co-working space.
