The Row Hotel at Assembly Row, a 158-key member of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, has opened its doors in Somerville, Massachusetts. Channelling an interpretation of the manufacturing industry for which the neighbourhood is named, the urban luxury project brings together bold industrial elements with polished sophistication.
“Our team is thrilled to be officially open and to welcome both visitors and locals to The Row Hotel at Assembly Row,” says Michael O’Shaughnessy, General Manager. “We’re excited to be a part of the vibrant evolution of Assembly Row and Somerville at large, and are eager to provide a new perspective on Boston travel that affords guests the dual benefits of being both minutes from the city and in a neighbourhood all its own.”
Welcomed by a lobby featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and a large spiral staircase edged in glass and galvanised metal, along with a series of mirrors and artist Feliciano Bejar’s Magiscopes – sculptures combining glass prisms with repurposed auto parts – guests are introduced to a different take on Boston culture. The suitably named Reflections, a lounge and breakfast café, also sits here, serving seasonal fare with a gourmet twist.
Guestrooms above are designed to feel airy and spacious, with the total key count incorporating seven suites. Every room features a Luxe Serta bed, workspace and seating, whilst The Premier King Suite offers a wet bar and a standing tub. Details such as oversized auto gears fixed to the walls pay homage to the manufacturing theme, whilst additional amenities include a communal guest pantry, fitness centre and swimming pool.
A series of light-filled private event rooms are joined by a decorative pre-function space and outdoor terrace, suitable for weddings, gatherings and corporate meetings, with the space fully customisable and holding 300 people at full capacity.
The hotel will seek to anchor Somerville’s emerging Assembly Row neighbourhood, a district now home to a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as easy access to the Boston waterfront and the Downtown areas. Marriott International’s Autograph Collection comprises over 150 independent hotels, each hand-selected for their unique characters and uncommon details.
