Wildes Chester releases interior renderings

Wildes Group has released interior renderings for Wildes Chester, an 18-room boutique hotel set to open on the city’s Bridge Street in Spring 2023. Designed by David Cox Architects and interiors studio SpaceInvader, the £5million development will feature a destination restaurant and bar by acclaimed chef Harry Guy, a rooftop vitality pool overlooking the surrounding landscape, and outdoor seating set within the historic Rows of Chester, with views of the famous Eastgate Street clock.

The restaurant, X by Harry Guy, is also undergoing design transformations that will see the  venue split across two floors. The menu is expected to take diners on a culinary adventure from the moment they step across the threshold, with each aspect of the experience designed to ignite the senses.

The interiors will reflect the dramatic yet sympathetic transformation of one of Chester’s longest standing buildings. A theatrical curtain frames the entrance to a staircase, decorated in a deep colour palette and Victorian metro tiles, whilst the suites will feature unique bursts of colour, pattern and texture.

The spa’s relaxation lounge is to be a calming space for guests awaiting their spa treatments. The dark and moody palette of the lounge will be combined with soft lighting and relaxed seating, whilst pops of burnt orange, deep blues and Victorian greens promote rejuvenation, serenity and healing.

“Retaining the architectural integrity of this iconic building has been a priority consideration during the design development,” says David Cox, Director at David Cox Architects. “We’ve been working within the constraints of the existing structure to maximise the very best use of space to create a luxurious experience for guests, whether they are staying in one of the luxurious suites or popping in for a cocktail. The proposed spa, pool and restaurant will be an asset to Wildes Chester, both of which will celebrate a touch of indulgence in the heart of the city.”

John Williams, founder of SpaceInvader, notes: “Projects like this don’t come around very often. Both Paul Wildes and Harry Guy have such a strong vision for this project, whilst the setting, in Chester’s famous Rows, couldn’t be more special. For the design team, it’s all about doing the building proud, making Paul and Harry proud and delivering a truly stand-out new hotel and hospitality destination for the inhabitants of and visitors to the historic heart of Chester.”
