1 Hotel Mayfair begins welcoming guests

1 Hotels has officially landed in London, opening the doors to 1 Hotel Mayfair in a move which marks the brand’s European debut.

With interior design by GA Group and architecture by Studio Moren, the eight-storey property comprises 137 rooms and 44 suites, including the largest one-bedroom penthouse in Mayfair. The product of reconstruction rather than brand-new construction, the hotel was designed using 80% of the building’s existing structure.

The hotel’s biophilia-inspired design sees nature intertwined with its interiors throughout, celebrating sustainability through design, layout, culture and service.

Over 500m² of living green-trellised exterior walls transform former hard surfaces into natural vertical landscapes, while all guestrooms feature moss walls, British oak flooring and Welsh slate bathroom vanities. Meanwhile, more than 200 plant species and 1,300 individual plants can be found across the property, from the living walls to the planting beds in the bedrooms.

In keeping with the brand’s ethos, 1 Hotel Mayfair has partnered with contemporary artists to convey important messages on humankind’s impact on our natural environments, including specially-commissioned pieces such as a leafy lobby chandelier created from air plants by artist Patrick Nadeau and Herbert Golser’s ‘1’ sign, made exclusively from wood.

1 Hotel Mayfair’s food and beverage venues take the form of ground-floor restaurant Dovetale, signature cocktail bar and lounge Dover Yard and Neighbours, a lively daytime café and evening bar.

Providing all manner of amenities to guests, the hotel’s first floor hosts a designated wellness area, which includes exercise and spa facilities.
