Linda Boronkay establishes new design studio

Linda Boronkay has founded her own interior architecture and design studio with projects underway in London, Los Angeles and Sydney.

The former Design Director of Soho House has established a multidisciplinary team of professionals with expertise in hospitality, residential and commercial, as well as product design and branding.

Boronkay brings 12 years of experience to the new studio. Most recently, she led a team of nearly 100 colleagues at Soho House, where she took overall design responsibility for members’ clubs in Asia, Europe and the UK. This included overseeing hotel rooms, restaurants, bars, lounges, event and co-working spaces, bespoke furniture lines and home accessories.

Prior to this, the designer held positions at leading design practices – Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, Tara Bernard & Partners, Tom Dixon and Woods Bagot – working on projects for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Nobu Global and Virgin Hotels.

In addition to hospitality and commercial spaces, the Budapest-born creative has experience designing individual homes, bespoke residences and sanctuaries for private clients. Drawing inspiration from arts and culture to create projects that balance individuality and functionality, heritage and modernity, character and comfort, she is sought-after as an industry commentator, speaker and judge.

“Despite the challenges of 2020, I’ve been fortunate to be offered some amazing opportunities, which means the timing feels right to open a studio with a close-knit and talented team,” explains Boronkay. “Drawing on our collective experience of more than 70 years, we offer a highly customised experience to clients, responding to their individuality, needs and desires first and foremost. Based on detailed research and an immersive attitude, our distinctive concepts embrace everything from interior architecture and design through to loose furnishings and everyday accessories.”

Under Boronkay’s leadership, the studio seeks to elicit a strong emotional connection to the spaces it creates using colour, textiles, lighting and more.

“Just like a certain song or fragrance can have an incredible emotional impact on us, we believe design has the same power to evoke positive memories and feelings,” Boronkay reveals. “In combination with aesthetics, it’s this emotional response to the physical world that we’re excited to explore.”
