Spanish furniture manufacturer Expormim – which specialises in working with rattan, wicker and cane – launched a number of new collections during Salone del Mobile 2023, including its Loop range, designed by Danish studio Norm Architects.

Seeking to create furniture that can stand the test of time, even as trends change, Norm Architects devised the Loop chair. Created from rattan, a natural material that is both delicate on the eyes and resistant to changing fashions, the chair is well positioned to make a long-lasting addition to a range of interiors.

The Loop chair’s curvilinear shape has been envisioned to draw a kind of charming smile, while its flexible backrest, neat lines and compact size allude to the chairs common in turn-of-the-century cafés in Vienna and Paris.

With sustainability in mind, the amount of rattan used in the product’s making has been kept to a minimum, reducing its carbon footprint where possible.

“Loop is our take on the classic multipurpose chair: a dining chair, a café chair, a kitchen chair, a balcony chair, that extra chair in a nice corner or in the hallway,” explain its designers. “The reason is its construction, both classic and modern, an approach that makes it versatile and elegant, fit to any place and occasion. A chair that never grows old.”
