Lucifer Lighting unveils first decorative fixture STELLR®

Lucifer Lighting, has introduced STELLR, an innovative luminaire that bridges the worlds of architectural and decorative lighting.

STELLR offers volumetric and directional illumination, with the ability to change the appearance and atmosphere of the room as well as the look of the luminaire itself, utilising proprietary waveguide technology that appears transparent when the light is off, and opaque when on.

Available in surface or pendant mount, the new light fixture contains two concealed, independently controlled on-off, and warm dimmable light sources: a directional downlight within an illuminated sphere.

STELLR’s refined silhouette complements the full spectrum of design sensibilities while offering high-performance features that allow for endless and ever-changing lighting effects.

The downlight draws attention to specific objects or locations for focus and punch, while the waveguide features an advanced polymer which glows and emits even and vibrant light when illuminated and is clear when turned off. When used together, the fixture creates a luminous ambience with subtle layers of shadow and light. Independent adjustment allows easy changes of mood and atmosphere, along with precise control to reflect changes in natural light and space usage and to support circadian rhythms and improve the quality of the interior environment.

“The product itself is like a paradox – a disappearing surface mount fixture,” explains Alexandra Mathews, Executive Vice President at Lucifer Lighting. “When the downlight is on, the space feels dramatic and intimate, but when the waveguide is illuminated, the atmosphere is lighter, making the ceiling feel higher and the room brighter.”

“For 40 years, Lucifer Lighting has been known for creating highly designed diminutive fixtures that use advanced engineering to create a big lighting impact,” says Gilbert Mathews, President and CEO of Lucifer Lighting. “When we decided to embark on the design of our fist luminaire that bridges the gap between decorative and architectural – meant to be seen as opposed to concealed – we knew we wanted to create something truly innovative, that had never been done before and offering features of real benefit to the design community. STELLR has exceeded all our hopes and expectations.”
