Baglioni Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to launch a new property near San Teodoro in Sardinia.

Scheduled to welcome its first guests this June, the 78-room development is the brand’s first outpost on a Mediterranean island, following openings in Venice, Rome, Florence, the South of France, London and the Maldives. Set within Tavolara marina, it will also become a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Alongside a private beach, the resort will comprise a 25m pool designed within a leafy garden featuring cabanas and loungers, as well as a spa complete with a Finnish sauna, steam bath, ice fountain, two sensory showers, four treatment cabins, a relaxation area and a Technogym fitness centre. Upstairs, guestrooms and suites offer garden or sea views, while modern furnishings reflect the colours of the natural surroundings.

From a culinary perspective, signature restaurant Gusto by Sadler presents Italian fine dining in a light and sophisticated manner. Created in collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Claudio Sadler, the eatery has been designed to offer guests an authentic, memorable experience. In addition, the property is also home to a second Italian restaurant, Sunset Terrace Bar, and a pool bar for daytime and evening apéritifs.

The hotel’s programme of activities includes canoeing, kayaking, kitesurfing, snorkelling and fishing experiences. A tour from above – aboard an ultralight aircraft – affords a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding area, while excursions on an Azimut Atlantis 34 yacht allow guests to explore the Tavolara archipelago, its idyllic coves and the neighbouring isles of Spargi, Tavolara, La Maddalena and the picturesque Porto Rafael.

For those preferring to stay on the shore, the private estate and surrounding country provide scope for mountain biking, horse riding, trekking, yoga or running. For golf lovers, international favourite Puntaldìa Golf Club is just 3km away. The nearby Mount Nieddu also offers opportunities for hiking or strolling, with nature trails for all ages and abilities, punctuated by waterfalls and pools en-route to the 970-metre peak.

“Sardinia is an area of incredible natural beauty, and it is an honour to bring the Baglioni brand to this special place,” says CEO Guido Polito. “In Baglioni Resort Sardinia, we are delighted to present a property that simultaneously brings the unique heritage and Italian luxury that Baglioni exudes to this island; whilst also offering guests the chance to connect with the natural beauty and everything the region has to offer.”
