Design Hotels opens first Ukrainian property

The architecture and design of the project was overseen by Anatoliy Kirik and Marina Leo, who, along with a team of Ukrainian and international professionals, combined global trends with simple sophistication.

The narrow 11-story building features and austere granite façade, combining contemporary design and 19th century architecture. The 49 luxurious guestrooms and suites overlook Kiev’s historical center and the interiors comprise of intimate lighting, dark wood accents, spacious bathrooms and subtle bursts of color.

The stylish lobby features a stainless steel ceiling designed by Anatoliy Kirik and artistic mirrored wall décor by the local Fomichev Brothers. Carefully designed work spaces and fully-stocked bar areas complete the hotel’s public spaces.

Instead of the heavy imperial embellishments often associated with the Ukraine of the past, contemporary simplicity and elegance prevail throughout the hotel’s interior design.

Black and white backgrounds, wide panoramic windows, reflective silver mirrors and surfaces and ceramic decorations by Majolica artist Taras Tkachenko give the space a sense of minimalism, while an amber-colored design bar welcomes guests to the informal mezzanine restaurant and a fireplace warms visitors in the lounge.
