Hyatt reveals plans for Thompson Vienna

Hyatt has entered into a management agreement with Signa and Central Group for Thompson Vienna, slated for completion in 2024. The 148-room hotel will be located on the city’s Mariahilferstrasse in a mixed-use development, which is set to feature cultural venues and a department store from German brand KaDeWe.

Architects Oma and interior designers Tara Bernerd & Partners will bring the project to life, creating a modern, edgy scheme inspired by the architecture and distinctive characteristics of Austria’s capital. This will be complemented by the Thompson brand’s layered design, culinary sophistication and luxury service.

“We are excited to be expanding our relationship with Signa and Central Group by introducing the third Hyatt property to the city,” says Felicity Black-Roberts, VP of Development for Europe at Hyatt. “Offering a refined residential feel, Thompson Vienna will attract visitors and locals alike with a dynamic social scene, all within a development that will integrate high-end shopping, dining, entertainment, fashion and accommodations.”

Claus Stadler, COO at Signa, comments: “We are delighted to extend our collaboration with Hyatt on this exciting new landmark hotel for the Viennese social scene. Together we will reimagine how retail and hospitality are intertwined to create a high-quality, lifestyle offering for our guests and visitors.”

Thompson Vienna will join Park Hyatt Vienna and Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere in the Austrian capital. The development follows Hyatt’s announcement of plans to debut Thompson in Spain with a new hotel in Madrid.
