Living Rooms announces Notting Hill-inspired hotel

Living Rooms, a collection of hotel alternatives, has announced its new Notting Hill-inspired hotel, open in summer 2015.

Created by architectural and interior designers Waldo Works, The Laslett is inspired by the area’s vibrant cultural heritage while also capturing its new wave of creative cool. It is also named after local Rhaune Laslett, community activist and organiser of the original Notting Hill Festival.

Waldo Works cleverly walk the line between hip and homely in the 51 guestrooms and suites, and celebrate the characterful and eclectic cultural heritage of Notting Hill.

Spread across five Victorian mansions, the hotel combines its British identity with finds and influences from around the world. Modern furniture sits alongside more personal quirks – books for bedside reading, proper blankets, and curiosities from a local antiques dealer, with curated photographs and artworks on the walls. A monochrome base is popped with strong colours, and textiles and textures throughout serve as a welcome home.

Downstairs will be more neighbourhood hangout than hotel lobby. Part coffee shop, part bar-kitchen, part gallery, part concept store – this multifunctional space will evolve throughout the day with an ever-changing selection of prints, homeware and artisan produce on sale.
