Manathai Koh Samui embraces heritage

Manathai’s third hotel has opened, featuring interior décor inspired by Thai heritage. Soft colonial elegance defines the design of the boutique hotel, where soft, white detailing complements walls adorned in cheerful yellow jasmine hues.

The colonial-period style beachfront resort is an elegant sanctuary set on the serene sands of Lamai Beach, opposite a fishing village and facing the Gulf of Thailand with a mountain backdrop. Manathai Koh Samui sets itself apart by the authentic and cultural nuances of the destination, utilising indigenous materials and methods as foundations to shape the guest experience.

From the ancient Dok Phi Khun floral patterns exhibited in the coloured glass panels and restaurant areas, to the use of Bai Jak – the leaf from the native Nypa Palm – which the hotel presents as a complimentary hand-fan to guests.

In guestrooms, silk cushions are provided by Jim Thompson, the manufacturer behind the world famous brand that continues to utilise traditional silk weaving techniques, while bathrooms showcase Thai ceramic traditions from local firm Sense.

Five restaurants offer limitless dining options, with culinary creativity at the fore at Waterline – a beachfront seafood dining experience. Meanwhile, authenticity is a priority at Pad Thai where guests can learn how to cook the iconic Thai dish. Colours Restaurant serves all-day international cuisine, while pub food is available at Mulligan’s and coffee and cakes at Coffee World Café.

Manathai Koh Samui offers 46 suites measuring up to 200m2, including six family suites, 102 Deluxe Balcony Rooms, a fitness centre and two swimming pools.
